FREDERICTON, NB – July 7, 2026
The Fredericton Region Museum is pleased to announce two new artists-in-residence who will be present in the museum this summer during the months of July and August: Rachel Pletz (July 21 – 24, 27-30) and Mike Erb (August 13-16, 20-23). The museum is also excited to host a writer-in-residence: Corenski Nowlan, who commenced his residency on July 4, and will be present in the museum on July 11 & 18, and August 1, 3, 15, and 22 (from 1-3pm).
Rachel Pletz is the talent behind the Kings Landing and Village Historique Acadien books, and we can’t wait to see the stories of the Fredericton region told through her unique imagination. She will be creating something we’ve wanted for a long time at the Museum: our very own custom colouring book! Stay tuned for a first look at the pages coming later this season.
Mike Erb is a photographer and experimental cyanotype artist whose work explores time, texture, nostalgia, and place. Inspired by everyday curiosities and unexpected beauty, he creates images that invite personal interpretation. During his summer residency at the Fredericton Region Museum, Mike will draw on the Museum’s collections and local folklore to create new cyanotype works. Stop by the Museum this summer to see his work in progress!
Corenski Nowlan is a writer of poetry, plays, and prose, as well as the Artistic Producer of Herbert the Cow Productions, a non-profit artist collective based in Fredericton since 1999. As this year’s Writer in Residence, Corenski will engage with the Museum’s programming through creative writing and public presentations, and will collaborate with illustrator Rachel Pletz on a colouring book project, developing storylines to accompany the illustrations. Stop by the Museum July 11 & 18, and August 1, 3, 15, and 22 (from 1-3pm) to see Corenski’s work and events throughout the residency.

Visit the museum this summer to see these talented artists at work. While there, you can also order a picnic lunch on the balcony in partnership with The Squeeze or enjoy live performances of traditional Scottish music during Pipers in the Square every Wednesday (12:15 – 12:45); music from 1776 performed by Frantically

The Fredericton Region Museum acknowledges the unceded and unconquered territory of Wəlastəkokewiyik / Wolastoqiyik. The Fredericton Museum, located in Ekwpahak | Fredericton, sits on lands designated by the Peace and Friendship Treaties of 1725-1779. These treaties did not deal in the transfer of land, rather they laid a foundation for what was to be an ongoing nation-to-nation relationship between the British Crown and Indigenous Peoples.
