The Excursion to Savage Island: On a pleasant Saturday in September 1940 the York Sunbury Historical Society accompanied by the University of New Brunswick Science Club went on an outing to Savage (aka Aukpaque Island), now Eqpahak Island, to look for traces of the island’s early inhabitants. Brian Hallett will talk about the outing and about the island when we meet on February 17th.  Note: In December 2009, the island was renamed Eqpahak Island. The word eqpahak means “place where the tide stops coming in.”
