Museum Cataloguers
Responsible To: The Executive Director, The Executive Assistant and Collections Committee
Location: Museum
Hours of Work: Flexible hours
Minimum Weekly Hours Commitment: 3
Commitment Length: long term
Training: Orientation, training on the job
Qualifications: Knowledge of basic word processing, spreadsheet and database programs, an eye for detail and organizational skills.
Job Description: To process acquisitions, catalogue collections, documents, artefacts and research.

Artefact Inventory Assistants
Responsible To: The Executive Director, The Executive Assistant and Collections Committee
Location: Museum
Hours of Work: Flexible hours
Minimum Weekly Hours Commitment: 3
Training: Orientation, training on the job
Qualifications: Knowledge of basic word processing and spreadsheet, an eye for detail and organizational skills.
Job Description: Maintain and document collections of artefacts (photograph, sort, organize and update files).

Translators (English to French)
Responsible To: The Executive Director, The Executive Assistant and Exhibits Committee
Location: Variable based on job needs
Hours of Work: Flexible hours
Minimum Weekly Hours Commitment: Flexible

Training: Orientation
Qualifications: Knowledge of basic word processing programs and excellent written French and English skills.
Job Description: We are currently making our exhibits accessible in both of New Brunswick‘s official languages. Translators will translate exhibit text and provide a second reading for translations completed by other’s.

Researchers
Responsible To: The Executive Director, The Executive Assistant, Collections Committee and Exhibits Committee
Location: Variable based on job needs
Hours of Work: Flexible hours
Minimum Weekly Hours Commitment: Flexible

Training: Orientation
Qualifications: Knowledge of basic word processing programs Background in history (preferred); experience as a researcher; organizational skills; and ability to meet deadlines.
Job Description: Acquire, organize, and maintain records and documents; verify authenticity and significance of historical material; and provide short summary of assignment, all of which may be used in curating exhibits, designing educational programs, in promotional material, in Collections Projects and for administrative purposes.

Volunteer Oral Historian
Responsible To: The Executive Director, The Executive Assistant, Collections Committee and/or Curator(s)
Location: Museum and off site
Hours of Work: Flexible hours
Minimum Weekly Hours Commitment: 3 hours
Commitment Length: Long term
Training: Orientation
Qualifications: Background or interest in history and/or journalism.  Must be a good listener and good with the public.
Job Description: To assist the Museum staff and volunteers in interviewing, recording, transcribing and cataloguing oral history interviews taken from members of the public.  Assist in contacting oral history participants and planning dates, times and locations of interviews, to be prepared to undertake training in conducting oral history interviews and the use of recording equipment, assist in cataloguing all recordings and to assist the Museum Outreach in preparing permission documentation for all recordings.  Must be a good listener.

Volunteer Document Transcribers
Responsible To: The Executive Director and The Executive Assistant
Location: Museum and off site
Hours of Work: Flexible hours
Minimum Weekly Hours Commitment: 3 hours

Training: Orientation
Qualifications: Knowledge of basic word processing, an eye for detail and organizational skills.
Job Description: To assist the Museum transcribe typewritten and handwritten documents making them accessible to researchers.

Photographers

Location: Museum
Hours of Work: Flexible hours

Qualifications: Background in photography, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Job Description: Museum staff photograph artefacts and exhibits, provide photos in electronic format suitable for various uses and label photos for reference. Photographs may be used in curating exhibits, designing educational programs, in promotional material, in collections projects and for administrative purposes.

Docents / Tour Guides
Responsible To: The Executive Director, The Executive Assistant
Location: Museum
Hours of Work: 1 to 2 hours per tour/program mostly in May and June (daytime, evening and weekends)
Minimum Weekly Hours Commitment: Dependant on scheduled tours
Commitment Length: Long term
Training: Orientation
Qualifications: An interest in the history of central New Brunswick; A working knowledge of the Museum exhibits (training provided); Likes working with the public; Enjoys working with children
Job Description: Responsible for giving tours to visitors to the Museum. Responsible for helping to guide school tours through the Museum. Responsible for delivering programs to youth/school groups. Touring visitors through the Museum and preparing and delivering programs (tour plus craft) to youth/school groups.
